Zhu Zhu Hamster Hot Toy of the Year

Zhu Zhu hamsters are making it onto the toy of the year lists for 2009.

Toys R Us released it's hot toys 09 list today, 24th Sept and Zhu Zhu pets are on the list.

Only trouble is that Zhu zhu pet hamsters are still out of stock in most retailers.

There's been a few comments by shoppers upset by the Amazon toy prices. At the moment Amazon are selling the zhu zhu hamsters for around $20 each.

At the moment zhu zhu hamsters are still really hard to get. I've checked Walmart, Toys R Us and Ebay.

Walmart say that when they are back in stock the price will be $8

Toys R Us also out of stock are advertising the price of individual hamsters at $9.99

Ebay prices start at around $15

So far Amazon is the only online major retailer to have the toys in stock. Prices for Mr Squiggle start at $17 and go up to over $30.

So if you want zhu zhu hamsters for this Christmas you have a couple of choices. You can wait and hope you'll be able to snap one or more up when they hit the shelves in Walmart or Toys R Us.

You can try and hunt down a bargain on ebay.

Or you can decide to pay a few extra dollars and buy one from Amazon without rhe risk of missing out.

As I said there are still some available for around $17 if you hurry.

NB: Zoo Zoo pets are also known as zhu zhu pets, zu zu pets, zhuzhu toys and they used to be called Go Go pets.

A limited release of zoo zoo pets were prelaunched recently and flew off the shelves in days!

What is a zoo zoo pet?

Zhu zhu pets are a world first, electronic, interactive, cuddly hamster. There are four different hamsters.
Chunk, Mr Squiggles, Numnums and Pipsqueak. Kids absolutely love them. Each hamster has its own personality, expressions and sounds.

The hamsters interact in two different ways.

The Loving Mode allows kids to pet and cuddle them. The hamsters purr and squeak and chatter.

The Adventure Mode lets them scoot and scamper across the floor or through their Hamster Habitat. Lucky kids who already have a zoo zoo pet never tire of watching their Zhu Zhu pets scamper around in their Zhu Zhu Accessories.

And when your little pet hamster is tired you just press it on its back and it will yawn and fall asleep.

The popularity of these little guys, actually two male and two female hamsters, took everyone by surprise. Even the manufacturers. They are on full production getting the next batch ready

Even if you are thinking of zoo zoo pets for Christmas my advice is to buy them as soon as possible. The really popular toys are often sold out closer to Christmas.

Zu Zu pets are suitable for children aged three to ten years. Even older children and adults who love cute critters go nuts over zhu zhu hamsters. They are not suitable for younger children as they have small parts.

Parents are raving about this toy. The hamsters on their own are just gorgeous and there are a great range of accessories and habitat add ons, like exercise wheels, surfboard, cars and sleep domes. Parents love the fact that their children just never seem to get bored with zoo zoo pets. And there's a subtle educational element to them as well.
